Payment & Refund Policy
SLR Valuations payment policy is for payment in advance*, and subject to our Payment & Refund Policy listed below.
Payment Terms
Unless otherwise agreed, the person instructing the property valuation or consulting service (“you”) is responsible for payment of the accepted property valuation or consulting service quoted fee.
Following receipt of your instruction to proceed with the property valuation or consulting service and your acceptance of the quoted fee in writing (normally by reply email), your request will be processed and assigned a job identification number. A tax invoice will then be prepared and emailed to you for payment.
You can make payment of our invoice by direct bank transfer, posting us a cheque, or credit card over the phone. Payment options are listed on our tax invoice.
You will be notified once payment has been received. The paid tax invoice will be emailed to you for your record once the property valuation or consulting service is completed, usually along with the completed property valuation or consulting service.
Our Standard Procedures for Property Valuation and Consulting Services
Our property valuers aim to carry out property valuation and consulting services in a professional and timely manner.
Once you have made payment of our invoice and we have received cleared funds, our relevant property valuer will receive internal instructions to proceed with the property valuation or consulting service.
For formal property valuations, our property valuers will commence a pre-valuation process, including file and report preparation, preliminary investigations, booking the valuation inspection, and market research preparation. Inspections for formal property valuations include an external and internal physical inspection of the subject property, including applicable descriptions and measurements, as well as an appropriate assessment of market evidence while in the location.
For standard residential property, the physical inspection is normally carried out at our earliest available or the agreed time, once this has been booked in. For tenanted properties, access is generally arranged through a real estate property manager, allowing for the legal minimum 24-48 hours’ notice requirement prior to entry (sometimes longer for holiday let properties).
For standard residential property, formal property valuation reports are usually completed within 1 to 3 business days from the date of inspection. Our expected turnaround times for all services are usually included in our formal quotes.
Customer Cancellation and Refund Conditions
For standard residential formal property valuation fees up to $880:
You are entitled to a refund of the property valuation fee (less a cancellation fee of $110), if you cancel the valuation instruction before the valuation inspection has been booked (you will be notified by email once an inspection time has been booked).
You are entitled to a 50 percent refund of the property valuation fee if you cancel the valuation instruction after the valuation inspection has been booked, but before our property valuer leaves their place of work to attend the valuation inspection.
You will not be entitled to receive a refund once our property valuer has left their place of work to attend the valuation inspection.
For all other formal property valuation instructions:
You are entitled to a refund of the property valuation fee (less a cancellation fee of $220), if you cancel the valuation instruction before the valuation inspection has been booked (you will be notified by email once an inspection time has been booked).
You are entitled to a 50 percent refund of the valuation fee (less a cancellation fee of $220), if you cancel the valuation instruction within 24 hours after the booked inspection time.
You will not be entitled to receive a refund if you cancel the valuation instruction after the 24 hour period as described in clause (2) above.
For non-formal property valuation and consulting service instructions:
You will not be entitled to a refund of the valuation fee for any Letter of Update instruction in relation to a previous formal property valuation report we have undertaken, or any other non-formal valuation request or any consultancy service, once you have made payment of your invoice and we have received cleared funds.
Subject to the conditions above, you may cancel the property valuation or consulting service instruction at any time by both contacting our assigned property valuer directly and by sending an emailing and including in the subject 'cancel valuation instruction' or ‘cancel consulting service’, whichever applies, to info@slr.com.au.
SLR Valuations Cancellation and Refund Conditions
Our property valuers retain the right to decline any property valuation or consulting service instruction, at any time during the property valuation or consulting service process, for any reason, and without explanation. This may occur, for example, if there is found to be a conflict of interest which goes against our professional standards. In the rare instance where our property valuer may decline your instruction, you will be notified as soon as possible, and will receive a full refund of the property valuation or consulting service fee.
*Where fees exceed $5,500 (in some instances of larger scale, legal or portfolio property valuation and consulting services fees), we require a minimum of 50 percent payment of the quoted fee in advance, with the fee balance to be paid prior to release of the formal property valuation report or consulting service by our property valuer. All other fees are to be paid in advance.
